Nasira and I first met in late 2009 when I was a client at LA Fitness in Tucson, Arizona. At the time I decided that I would benefit from the services of a trainer in order to improve my physique and gain overall strength. Prior to working with her, I admittedly underestimated her effectiveness a trainier as due to her quiet, unassuming nature and her petite stature. This all changed when picked up the weights during our first session. As the workout progressed I quickly realized that was sorely mistaken and that Nasira was in fact the real deal! As her client she exposed me to new ways of exercising which enabled me to improve core strength, overall strength, and balance. She also definitely kept me honest during each session by ensuring that I maintained proper form during each routine. I appreciated that she was very patient in explaining new techniques with which I was unfamiliar, and she was always very encouraging and motivating whenever I was struggling to finish my last rep. After the completion of our first session, I was eager to sign up for more, and over the course of the following several months (until she left Tucson) I noticed rapid, positive changes in my physique (increased size and definition) as well as strength. It has truly been a pleasure working with her and there aren’t enough words to express my gratitude for how much she has had such a positive effect on me and the progress that I have made.

I’ve always been an athlete. I was a three-season athlete in High School, played tennis almost all my life including college, competed in the Malibu triathlon five times, and among other things, work out at the gym. Because I’ve always been active and in pretty good shape, I never thought I needed a trainer to improve, and then a friend started working out with Nasira Burkholder, so I decided to try out personal training. Nasira’s personal training sessions have taken my workouts to a new level, plus she sets goals that inspire me.
After only a few months, I shed 10 pounds, back to my college weight, I accomplished my original goal of one pull-up, and best of all, I feel amazing. We continue to work out together, and Nasira specializes every session with unique exercises that continue to challenge me to achieve my next exciting goal!

After 25-plus years of working out, I thought I knew everything...until I signed up for personal training sessions from Nasira Burkholder. Whew, was I in for a surprise! Sure, I knew the basic gym routines and worked out hard (or so I thought), but Nas quickly identified the areas I needed help in, like balance/coordination, flexibility, stamina/conditioning and strength.
And so we went to work – hard work. Trust me: you don’t know what a real, intense workout is until you train with Nas. Once she sees what you need, she devises a thorough, personal training routine that will leave you breathless – literally. In short, be prepared to sweat – profusely.
Nasira cleverly mixes the routines up, making the training sessions refreshing, as well as damned tough. I mean, just try an hour of one-legged exercises! Matters not if it’s abs, calves or chest, you’ll be happily drained and better for it.

As one of Nasira's clients I was quite disappointed to lose her as a trainer with my move to Washington as well as her own move to LA to pursue higher studies. My schedule was quite hectic as part of clinical teaching faculty at the University of Arizona Dept. of Neurology, however, Miss Burkholder's sessions were highly organized and highly intense to achieve my goals in the most efficient manner given my time constraints. Her methodology was varied enough to constantly challenge me and she also mentally motivated me to reach my physical limits safely. I was quite pleased with her and it will be difficult to find another trainer with her drive and level of professional knowledge.
